Code of conduct
Internal Code of Conduct
Naturally, one of the first SRE conditions is that there should be no irresponsible conduct. This is why the Heijmans Code of Conduct was introduced in 2003. This code applies to all Heijmans employees. Each division has its own confidential adviser who serves as the point of contact for employees in instances where they observe transgressions, or where they run into a dilemma themselves.
The Code of Conduct Committee keeps the code alive and provides guidelines for frequently occurring dilemmas. Whenever something happens, measures/sanctions are taken immediately.

Collective Code of Conduct for Major Construction Companies
Heijmans, Ballast Nedam, BAM, Dura Vermeer, Strukton, TBI and Volker Wessels have jointly developed a code of conduct founded on key guiding principles. The code offers the principal construction company, the specialized contractor, the customer and others involved in the construction process a starting point for professional, ethical, socially responsible and transparent behaviour.
External Code of Conduct
All sub-contractors and suppliers with whom Heijmans conducts business have been signing a code of conduct since 2006. The company submits a declaration of integrity together with every proposal and tender it issues. A yearly verification of the files is conducted to confirm that a declaration was included with every submitted proposal. A review is also conducted to determine whether the code of conduct is properly embedded in the separate divisions.
Furthermore, Heijmans has co-signed the anti-corruption charter that was presented during the 2005 World Economic Forum in Davos.
