Heijmans is a listed Property Development, Residential Building, Non-residential Building, Technical Services and Infrastructure company. Outside the Netherlands, Heijmans operates in Belgium and Germany.
Heijmans dates back to 1923, when Jan Heijmans set up his road construction company in Rosmalen. Post-war reconstruction gave him ample opportunity to expand the business, through the repair and construction of roads and airfields.
The first company takeover took place in this period, marking the start of enormous growth and a multifaceted approach. In 1993 Heijmans was listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, which enabled the company to tap into a new source of capital, which facilitated further growth and takeovers. At the end of 2009, 9140 employees together achieved an income of well over €3 billion.
The growth ended in 2008, when Heijmans hit troubled waters, partly due to the consequences of the economic crisis in the construction industry. A series of drastic measures ensured. In 2010, Heijmans is clearing the decks for recovery and an innovative position, with a clear focus on the Netherlands.
The combination of Property Development, Residential Building, Non-residential Building, Technical Services and Infrastructure enables the various disciplines to employ an integrated approach. Heijmans is a major, leading company in these areas, combining technical and conceptual skills. We offer clients professional project management based on client-oriented development and realisation, which means that everything is taken care of - from concept and design to maintenance and management.
Heijmans strives continuously to keep improving and optimising this approach. Sustainability forms an important starting point for all processes. Heijmans is actively trying to reduce its ecological footprint, combining this with social responsibility and a focus on people and the environment.
